Yesterday, on day three of Nor-Shipping, Mr Procurement himself, Leif Tusvik, came in to strengthen our team with his expertise on our central purchasing system Star FSM and our e-commerce solution SISCommerce.
Leif, and CEO Per Anders Koien (who visited our stand on Tuesday), were among the nine entrepreneurs who founded Star Information Systems back in 1997.
One of the business ideas from the outset was to develop a central purchasing system that could be integrated with existing onboard planned maintenance systems. This was launched in 1998 as Star CPS, the predecessor of Star FSM (2012).
Now in 2019, the supply and logistics side of our integrated Star solution, in which Star FSM is still the cornerstone, supports the entire purchase process from creating MRs on board each plant to organizing shipments and approving received items – as well as supporting contract administration, internal approval procedures, administration of vendors, vendor catalogues (that can be automatically updated) and cooperation with freight forwarders and shipping agents.
A guiding principle is to utilize automatization to free up as much as possible of the time spent on processing of purchase cases so that more resources can be put into negotiating and optimizing contracts with vendors. And since all shipping and offshore companies are different, our solutions can be customized to support procedures and visual profiles in each company.

After closing time in Lillestrøm, Ingela slipped off to join Adonis’ User Conference in Bergen, while Leif and Tom boarded Christian Radich to mingle with business associates and old friends. For the benefit of invited Nor-Shipping participants, the old full-rigger was docked on the Fortress Quay in the Centre of Oslo.
This not only provided them with magnificent views of Akershus Fortress and the harbour area in general, but also ringside seats to the concert that took place just a few metres away, featuring stars such as A-ha, Andrea Bocelli and Sidsel Kyrkjebø!
