Frigstad Offshore: Why we chose Star Information Systems

Frigstad Offshore has chosen to implement a fleet management system from Star Information Systems (SIS) over a half -dozen competing solutions. The Singapore-based offshore drilling contractor is currently involved as project manager in construction of the world’s most powerful drilling rig. They realize the importance of powerful management systems and controls, thus the investment in intelligent process management tools like SIS’s solution.
“Proximity to us here in Singapore, high performance and the ability to scale the solution were initial criteria. The final decision, the reasons we chose SIS were their spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation. They are strong on product development, strong on delivery and strong on customer service. They know the importance of following up a relatively small customer,” says Dag Frigstad, Administration Manager at Frigstad Offshore Pte Ltd.
Frigstad Offshore has conducted rig operations in South America, Asia and the Middle East since 1989. Related companies are Frigstad Engineering and Frigstad Discoverer Invest. The former is a specialist in innovative rig design and the latter is an investment company constructing the world’s most powerful drilling rig, S/S Frigstad Oslo, at Yantai Raffles Shipyard in China.
“After getting the Star Centralized Purchasing System (Star CPS) up and running in our head office, we will roll it out for use on the drilling rigs we manage worldwide, including S/S Frigstad Oslo. We will also implement Star Information & Planning System (Star IPS), a planned maintenance system and safety management system from SIS,” says Frigstad.
“We like to use reliable suppliers with a good track record. SIS already has a good portfolio of rig customers, and we have already seen – by the speed with which they have gotten the system up and running in our offices – how quick and service-oriented they are.”
