Seadrill Management (S) Pte Ltd: Setting the standard in drilling
Seadrill is a major force in offshore drilling and has, over the past five years, built the world’s most modern drilling fleet. Together with partners, the company owns and operates 40 drilling units. Seadrill's versatile fleet includes harsh-environment semi-submersibles, premium jack-up rigs, shallow and deepwater tender rigs, and deepwater drill ships. Seadrill’s declared mission is to set the standard in drilling.
Seadrill Management in Singapore owns and operates a fleet of eight premium Jack-up drilling rigs. Six of the Seadrill rigs were converted from another supplier to Star software in January 2008. Following a successful evaluation scheme with two rigs, the software was progressively rolled out on the remaining operational Jack-up rigs managed out of the Seadrill Singapore office. Two additional rigs are currently under construction, and SIS is delighted to be Seadrill’s chosen supplier of planned maintenance and purchasing systems for these rigs.
When choosing SIS as supplier, Seadrill had already developed first-class HSEQ and asset maintenance standards in line with government regulations in Norway. To support rapid expansion of its operations, the challenge was to extend this same high quality to its rigs worldwide while also meeting local and customer requirements in the Far East.
Noting Seadrill’s requirement for a high quality maintenance and procurement system to manage inventories and facilitate management reporting, SIS take pride in fulfilling the real business requirements of our client. At the same time, so as not to disrupt operations, both SIS and Seadrill carefully worked out a detailed implementation strategy and schedule to ensure that the migration to SIS systems were well timed to minimize any impact on Seadrill’s operations. “A dedicated SIS focal point was appointed during the implementation phase so that the best support was provided for any problem encountered. This improved communication meant that Seadrill only had to deal with one person for all of our queries,” says Seadrill Technical Manager for Asia Pacific, Ivor Smith.
Seadrill’s business strategy is to focus on modern state-of-the-art offshore drilling units and deepwater operations. Seadrill believes that by combining quality assets and experienced and skilled employees, they will be able to provide customers with safe and effective operations, and establish, develop, and maintain a position as a preferred provider of offshore drilling services for their customers.
Looking forward, SIS is committed to support Seadrill’s international operations by continuously soliciting feedback from our users and proactively improving work processes to ensure that the planned benefits of our systems are realized.
