Swift Drilling selects Star IPS Software
Swift Drilling has selected MirTac and Star Information Systems to implement a full Star IPS System with all modules, such as maintenance, spares, and safety, on its new high-tech drilling rig. MirTac’s expertise in maintenance combined with offshore expertise was key to Swift’s decision.
Swift Drilling is a joint venture between Cofely Oil & Gas BV and Jack-Up Barge BV. With the new drilling platform, Swift Drilling B.V. elaborates on the ‘small field’ policy of Shell for the North Sea.
The new rig is a high-tech offshore drilling installation, smaller and more efficient than the usual platforms. It is specially designed for the water depths and weather conditions of the Southern North Sea resulting in significantly lower drilling costs. Drilling is expected to begin by the end of 2010.
